Questions every parent should ask an agency or employer:
1. How will your program promote community involvement for my son/daughter through this agency?
2. How will my young adult travel to and from the program on a daily basis?
3. What specific accommodations will you provide for my son/daughter?

Advice to the parents
While your young adult is still in high school, ensure that their transition teacher is active in finding services and agencies that can be utilized during and after high school. Ask questions like "What types of services do you have lined up for my son/daughter that they can use after high school?" This is their job and they are there to assist your young adult find employment and have a successful transition into independent living!
Also, starting in middle school, find out what things interest your son/daughter. Find out what they may want to do after high school or where they want to live. There are many great websites out there that can assess your young adult using interactive types of games that can tell you more about what they are interested in. The following sites are great resources that you can use at home or that you may want to suggest to their teacher:
